From the Gym to the Global Stage: TVAH Student Competes at the CrossFit Games
For many high school athletes, balancing training and academics can feel like its own workout. For Caden Cleaveland, a Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville (TVAH) student, that balance has helped him achieve something remarkable, earning a spot at the 2025 CrossFit Games and competing among the world’s best.
Caden, who trains two times a day, placed 27th worldwide in the Boys (16–17) division at this year’s CrossFit Games. Reaching the world finals marks an impressive milestone in a journey that began years earlier when he first discovered his love for competition and fitness.
Before reaching the global stage, Caden steadily climbed the CrossFit rankings each year:
- 2022: Ranked 617th worldwide (Boys 14–15)
- 2023: 32nd worldwide
- 2024: 13th worldwide, 4th in the U.S., and again 1st in his affiliate
- 2025: 27th worldwide at the CrossFit Games
His consistent progress and dedication have made him a standout athlete across the nation.
When Caden joined TVAH, his goal was to find the flexibility needed to continue training and competing at such an elite level. The school’s online structure allows him to manage his workouts, recovery, and coursework on his own schedule. This balance helped him thrive both academically and athletically.
“I wanted to keep pushing toward the Games without falling behind in school,” Caden shared. “TVAH gives me the freedom to do both.”
Now, after placing 21st in the CrossFit Age Group Semifinal and representing his affiliate at the world level, Caden says this is just the beginning. He hopes to continue progressing through the CrossFit ranks and inspiring other young athletes to pursue their goals.
Caden’s journey shows that when students have the support and flexibility they need, they can reach new heights. At Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville, students like Caden are proving that dedication and opportunity make a powerful combination.
