For many young writers, publishing a book feels like a far-off dream. But for 16-year-old Reggie Bendy Jr., a high school student at Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville (TVAH), that dream is now a reality.

Reggie recently published The Tales of Christmas Hallows, a 70-page chapter book brimming with magic, friendship, and the spirit of the holidays. As his debut novel, the book represents months of imagination, dedication, and hard work—all made possible through the flexible online learning environment at TVAH.

With a passion for storytelling and a special love for Christmas, Reggie poured more than five months into creating a book that invites readers into a world of courage, belonging, and festive wonder. His school schedule allowed him to balance academics with his creative pursuits—giving him the space to write, revise, and even illustrate the book’s cover himself. But he didn’t stop there. Reggie also composed an original song to accompany the story, further showcasing his multifaceted talents.

Reggie’s journey wasn’t a solo endeavor. With encouragement from his mother, who is also a published author, he navigated the publishing process and launched the book through their joint platform, Story Hallows. The book is now available for purchase on the website—and Reggie’s excitement for storytelling is just beginning.

“The experience of bringing my ideas to life and sharing them with others has been amazing,” Reggie says. “I want to inspire other young people to believe in their creativity.”

TVAH’s supportive and adaptable learning model played a key role in helping Reggie bring his vision to life—demonstrating how students thrive when given the opportunity to pursue their passions alongside their academics.

Reggie’s story is a reminder that big dreams can start at any age, and with the right support, young authors can make a lasting impact.
