Meet Our Administrators
Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville's (TVAH's) administration is ready to share their innovation, expertise, and enthusiasm with your family. The leadership is dedicated to empowering our school community.
Catherine Groven | Head of School
Mrs. Groven holds a master's degree in education administration and has over 15 years of experience as an educator in both the brick-and-mortar and virtual setting. She began her career as a middle and high school math teacher, then she moved into administration where she has served as an assistant principal and principal prior to her current role. Mrs. Groven likes the interaction with families and staff as well as the support she is able to give with the tools available in our virtual setting.
LaTasha Beasley | High School Principal Grades 11–12
Ms. Beasley joined the Stride K12 team in 2017 and has served in several different roles, including teacher, department chair, and assistant principal. She has over 18 years of experience serving in education and human services. Ms. Beasley earned her BA from DePaul University and her MS and EdS from Walden University. She believes building positive relationships is the key to student and teacher success. When she has spare time, she likes to read, travel, and spend time with her family. Ms. Beasley is excited to be part of the TVAH team and looks forward to helping to create a learning environment that inspires and facilitates growth.
Joseph Ferguson | High School Principal Grade 10
Mr. Ferguson is excited to join the TVAH family. He started his college career at Baylor University where he received a bachelor's degree and started his masters. While at Baylor, he played rugby for Baylor University where he learned "what teamwork, grit, and determination was truly like." As part of the rugby team, he served the community in various ways, including mentoring kids. This experience drove him towards education and inspired his dedication to making learning fun and helping kids be better individuals in society. It was this love for education that has kept Mr. Ferguson in the field for over 15 years. He was a teacher for eight years, an assistant principal for three years, an associate principal for one year, and a principal for three years. During these years he earned his master's and doctoral degrees, as well as his superintendent certification. This year, Mr. Ferguson transferred from within Stride K12 as a state compensatory coordinator for TVAH to TVAH's principal for 10th grade. During his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his boys, joining in CrossFit workouts, being with family, and doing educational research. He looks forward to seeing the success TVAH students, teachers, and staff will have this year. "I know that with our current leadership and the plans set forth, we are going to be a great success, and most of all, create success for all students," says Mr. Ferguson.
Yvonne Ceynow | High School Principal Grade 9
Mrs. Ceynow is a graduate of the University of Texas at Brownsville where she earned a BA in English and an MA in educational leadership. She brings over 10 years of experience in the field of education including teaching ELA and ESL, writing ELA curriculum, and developing campus/district leaders across the state. Mrs. Ceynow joined the Stride K12 team in 2017 as an academic administrator in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is proud to be part of a team that is paving the way for virtual education.
Elizabeth Nelson | Middle School Principal Grades 7–8
Mrs. Nelson has 12 years of experience in education, including teaching math and economics, writing math curriculum, helping at-risk students achieve success, and focusing on a data-driven culture. She joined the Stride K12 team in 2014 as a math teacher at Arizona Virtual Academy and transitioned to middle school lead teacher before joining Texas Online Preparatory School as the middle school and high school principal in 2017. Last year, she left Texas Online Preparatory School to launch Texas eSchool Prep as the head of school. She earned a BA in mathematics and a BS in secondary education from Indiana University. Additionally, she holds an MEd in educational leadership from Ball State University and a principal certification in both Texas and Arizona. Mrs. Nelson and her family, including four out of eight children, two dogs, 15 dwarf goats, two peacocks, various chickens, and three geckos, enjoy the country life in the Texas Hill Country.
Kyla Pickrell | Elementary School Principal Grades 3–6
Ms. Pickrell has been with Stride K12 for six years and enjoys working in a cutting-edge environment that allows students to be outside the box. While in college, she got a master's in business but soon realized her passion for education. She has been a teacher, a lead, and a lead captain in her six years at Stride K12. These experiences have allowed her to work with multiple teams. She looks forward to working with TVAH's awesome team to make this the best school year!
Daphne Troxell | Principal of Guidance and Advising
Ms. Troxell has been with Stride K12 for nine years and loves being in an environment where students and teachers can work together to grow. While in college she majored in secondary education with a math focus. During her nine years with Stride K12, she has been in various roles including a K–8 teacher, middle school teacher, lead teacher, instructional coach, and principal. She is over the top excited about TVAH and all the grand plans in store for this year.
Kendra Brown | Assistant High School Principal Grades 11–12
Ms. Brown began her career in secondary education in 2007 as a high school English teacher in the Houston area. Throughout her career, she has served in a variety of leadership roles: department lead, testing coordinator, and instructional specialist. She has also contributed to developing curriculum projects and leading professional development sessions. Ms. Brown joined TVAH in March of 2019 as an English teacher before transitioning into administration as a department lead and assistant principal. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station where she earned both a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Education in curriculum and instruction. She holds certifications in school administration for grades K–12, secondary ELA, and secondary ESL.
LB Siebenmann | Assistant High School Principal Grades 11–12
Mrs. Siebenmann has 18 years teaching experience that spans through all public K–12 grades. She began her professional career teaching and coaching middle school at Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD in Saginaw, Texas. From middle school she moved to Coppell High School, in Coppell, Texas, where she taught personal fitness, individual and team sports, as well as health. Her competitive spirit and love for mentoring was demonstrated in coaching high school basketball and track. Mrs. Siebenmann continued her experience teaching elementary PE for 14 years in Lewisville ISD, Lewisville, TX. Most recently, she taught at Texas eSchool Prep. These positions provided diverse experience and through both teaching and coaching and helped her gain a love for collaborative leadership. Mrs. Siebenmann has served on committees for the Lewisville school district, helped develop the districts first physical education curriculum, and served on the district-wide School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC). She received her bachelor's degree in education from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She was a collegiate athlete, homecoming queen (2000), and served as the president of Student Health Organization and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Mrs. Siebenmann earned a master's in educational leadership from Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas. She is married to Philip Siebenmann and has five children and one grandchild. She enjoys staying physically active, playing coed soccer, and repurposing "treasures" or some might say other's trash.
Miranda Frink | Assistant High School Principal Grade 10
Mrs. Frink is a Texas Tech alumni where she earned both a bachelor's and master's and is currently working toward her doctorate. She started her career in education almost ten years ago as a middle school ELA teacher. Since then, she has taught 6–8 ELA and 6–7 social studies. Mrs. Frink has worked at Stride K12 for six years and is excited to begin her 7th in the 2020–2021 school year! She has a six-year-old little girl who keeps her very busy and on her toes. "When I'm not working or parenting, I am running or traveling!" says Mrs. Frink.
Erica Kouros | Assistant High School Principal Grade 10
Mrs. Kouros has served students and teachers for 15 years This includes teaching middle school ELA and CTE courses in business and marketing. She earned a BBA in marketing from the University of Houston and a master's in educational leadership from Grand Canyon University. After earning her master's in education in 2013, she transitioned into leadership, including campus-based leadership, instructional leadership, technology implementation, curriculum writer for CTE, and mentor teaching. Mrs. Kouros is always focused on student centered instruction and prides herself on developing strong relationships with students and their families. She joined TOPS in December 2018 as a business and marketing teacher and transitioned into the academic leadership role in 2019 with Stride K12. Before teaching, Mrs. Kouros worked in industry where she served in multiple leadership positions in the field of marketing, which allows her to show students the real-world connection between education and industry. Through these diverse experiences, she passionately supports students in their post-secondary goals. Her focus and passion are working in partnership with teachers, students, and families to provide authentic learning experiences. She lives with her husband and four daughters in West Houston where she enjoys spending time with her family, watching her daughter compete in martial arts, reading, and supporting her local community.
Jillian Conte | Assistant High School Principal Grade 9
Mrs. Conte is originally from Ohio and received her BA in business administration from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio. She earned her MA in mathematics education from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. She taught high school math and physics, and coached girls' tennis in Harmony, Florida. She also worked as a math and physics teacher at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. After traveling around the Great Plains with her husband's job in wind power, they settled in Amarillo, Texas. Mrs. Conte taught 8th grade math, Algebra 1, and 6th grade dance for 4.5 years in Amarillo before transitioning to working for Stride K12 Texas. Since then, she has taught biology and 7th grade math at TOPS and then spent a year as curriculum coordinator for all of math and science for Stride K12 Texas Shared Services. "I am thrilled to be continuing my journey with TVAH as AP of math and science for the 9th grade campus," says Mrs. Conte.
Anna Westbrook | Assistant High School Principal Grade 9
Ms. Westbrook transitioned to education after many years of working as a competitive swim coach and swim school director. She is now entering her eighth year in education and her fourth year at Stride K12. She has served as a 9th grade and 11th grade English teacher and was the ELA department chair for the last three years in the virtual environment. Prior to coming to Stride K12, Ms. Westbrook was a middle school and high school English teacher, and grade level chair at a brick-and-mortar school in the Houston area. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in fine art and graphic design from California State University, Fresno, and has a Master of Science in recreation and sports administration from Western Kentucky University. She is currently pursuing a second master's degree with Southern New Hampshire University specializing in online education.
Karin Webb | Assistant High School Principal
Ms. Webb received both her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of North Texas in Denton. She began her career in 1998 as a high school English and computer animation teacher. In 2012, Ms. Webb transitioned into the world of virtual education when she joined the Stride K12 family. While at Stride K12, she has taught several different courses including public speaking and English 4. She is excited to be working with all the amazing TVAH families and staff.
Misty Watt | Assistant High School Principal for Counseling
Ms. Watt received a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from West Texas A&M University and taught high school Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 for 4 years. While teaching, she went back to West Texas A&M to work on her master's of education in counseling. Ms.Watt was the high school counselor for Roosevelt High School for two years before moving back to Amarillo. She started working for Stride K12 in July 2015 as a placement counselor and then was moved to high school counselor in September 2015 at TXVA. Ms. Watt has been the counseling lead for TVAH for the last two years.
Tracy Cobb | Assistant Middle School Principal
Ms. Cobb received her BA in Spanish from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL and then went on to earn an MEd in teaching and learning from DePaul University in Chicago. She also earned a graduate certificate in instructional design from the University of Wisconsin-Stout as well as a principal certification from Lamar University. Ms. Cobb worked in brick-and-mortar classrooms for 10 years teaching a variety of subjects at the middle and high school levels before moving into district administration where she served as a member of the Curriculum and Instruction Literacy and Professional Learning teams. Ms. Cobb began her journey with Stride K12 last school year working as a reading interventionist for grades 5–8.
Lana Jackson-Brown | Assistant Middle School Principal
Ms. Jackson-Brown has been in education for over nine years. She taught 3rd grade ELA and social studies at a public charter school in the Rio Grande Valley before joining Stride K12 in 2014, where she has taught 5–8th ELA. For the past two years, Ms. Jackson-Brown has been the middle school ELA lead. She is excited to step into the new role of assistant principal at TVAH Middle School. She received her bachelor's in early childhood multicultural education with a minor in business management from the University of New Mexico and received her master's in social entrepreneurship from Fort Hays State University. Her educational passions include writing across the curriculum, teacher training, and culturally responsive teaching.
Jayne Iley | Assistant Middle School Principal
Mrs. Iley has 33 years of experience in the field of education including positions ranging from a classroom teacher to principal. She joined Stride K12 as an English teacher in 2009, transitioned to a state lead in 2015, moved to teache supervisor in 2018, and served as the academic administrator/principal for Texas eSchool Prep for the 2019–2020 school year. Mrs. Iley earned her Bachelor of Science degree in education from Texas State University. Additionally, she holds a Master of Science in educational administration from Walden University and a Texas principal's certification. She lives with her husband in South Central Texas. They have two daughters, two wonderful sons-in-law, and three amazing grandchildren.
Jessica Miller | Assistant Middle School Principal
Ms. Miller has been working in education for eight years spending the last two years with Stride K12. Before joining Stride K12, she worked in her local public schools teaching upper elementary ELA or art. She earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Sam Houston State University and recently completed her master's in school counseling from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Ms. Miller says she has loved working in the arts and doing counseling with the kids since starting at Stride K12 and cannot wait to continue watching TVAH students grow not only in their education but also socially and emotionally.
Rosalyn Petry | Assistant Elementary School Principal
Ms. Petry has completed seven years with Stride K12 where she has served in various roles as an elementary and middle school teacher, as well as lead teacher. Prior to her career with Stride K12, she taught 4th grade bilingual students in a local brick-and-mortar public school for seven years. She earned her bachelor's degree in communication studies with a minor in Spanish, then completed her master's in Christian education. She is passionate about helping teachers grow their students and looks forward to another amazing year at TVAH!
Chelsea Puchstein | Assistant Resource Principal
Mrs. Puchstein is excited to continue to serve as a TVAH elementary AP for the 2020–2021 school year! She graduated with a BS in psychology from the University of Houston and immediately worked on obtaining her teaching certification through Region IV's ACP. Prior to coming to Stride K12, she was a high school resource science teacher in the brick-and-mortar and loved working with my students. "I decided to stop working for a year when I had my first kiddo and then realized I NEEDED to get back in the classroom," says Mrs. Puchstein. She started with Stride K12 in August of 2013 and has never looked back. She was a PE/health teacher at the middle school level for four years. After being the electives POC, she shifted into a lead position in August 2018 over the middle school science department and electives. In October 2019, she joined the elementary team as the assistant principal. She earned her master's degree in educational leadership in August 2020. "I absolutely love my job and cherish each and every person I get to work with!" says Mrs. Puchstein.
