Meet Our Elementary School Team

Our elementary teachers have years of experience in online teaching and can’t wait to provide instruction and support to help your child succeed.

Rosalyn Berger | 5th Grade Lead Teacher

Ms. Berger joined the K12 team in 2013. She brings more than 12 years of experience in education. Ms. Berger earned a BA in communication studies from the University of North Texas and a MA in Christian education from Dallas Theological Seminary.


Lisa Brown | 3rd Grade Science and Social Studies Teacher

Mrs. Brown joined the K12 team in 2018. She brings more than 15 years of experience in education and curriculum development. Mrs. Brown earned a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies with a minor in biology from Lubbock Christian University. She is a passionate teacher who is committed to three things: maximizing individual student performance, inspiring students’ interest in technology, and instilling a sense of self-worth in all students.


Stephanie Dawsey | 5th Grade ELA/Social Studies Teacher

Mrs. Dawsey joined K12 in 2018. She joined us with 10 years of experience in education and has worked with children from infants all the way through high school. Mrs. Dawsey earned her Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies in 2006 and her Master of Science in reading with a reading specialist certification in 2010, both from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.


Teresa De La Rosa | 5th Grade Math and Science Teacher

Ms. De La Rosa received her degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio before furthering her educational studies at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi with graduate coursework. She comes to us with a background in special education and 4th grade language arts. She is excited about her first year of online teaching and looks forward to getting to know her students.


Jimalee Dutton | Lead Teacher for Elementary Math and Science

Ms. Dutton joined the K12 team in 2016. She brings more than 18 years of experience in education and community service. Ms. Dutton earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas in elementary education and early childhood. She holds certificates in elementary education, early childhood, and ESL.


Emily Fair | 5th Grade ELA/Social Studies Teacher

Ms. Fair joined K12 in 2013. Since that time, she has held several teaching positions from 4th through 8th grades. She began her teaching career in 2001 and holds a BS in education and master’s in counseling. She is certified to teach all subjects 4–8.


Brandie Fitch | 3rd Grade Math Teacher

Ms. Fitch joined the K12 team in 2013. She began her teaching career in 2007. Ms. Fitch earned a BSIS in education from Wayland Baptist University. She holds certificates in generalist early childhood 4th grade and 4th–8th grade.


Jenifer Hesselbrock-Handley | Elementary and Middle School Music Teacher

Mrs. Handley joined the K12 team in 2013. She attended Texas Christian University and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in music at West Texas A&M in an online program. Before coming to K12, Mrs. Handley taught in Garland ISD as a middle school band director and at a local Catholic School as the K–8 music teacher.


Lisa Long | 4th Grade Math and Science Teacher

This is Ms. Long’s first year with K12 and teaching virtual, and her eighth year as an elementary math and science teacher. She graduated from the University of Houston and holds certifications for teaching EC–6, 4–8, and ESL.


Jessica Miller | 3rd–5th Grade Art Teacher

Ms. Miller is new to the K12 team. This is her fifth year in the art classroom after spending her first two years teaching ELA. She has her BA in education from Sam Houston State University and holds certificates in early childhood education, ESL, and K–12 visual arts. When she isn’t teaching or creating, you can find her reading in the mountains.


Amy Perez | 3rd Grade ELA Teacher

Ms. Perez has six years of online experience with K12. She has 15 years of teaching experience in various grades and subjects. She received her degree from the University of Texas-Pan American in interdisciplinary studies with a minor in English. She is certified to teach 1st–8th grade and is currently seeking her ESL certification.


Amy Perkinson | Elementary Physical Education Teacher

Ms. Perkinson just joined K12 this year! She is in her tenth year of teaching physical education. She earned her BS in kinesiology at Tarleton State University.


Ketti Robertson | 5th Grade ELA/Social Studies Teacher

Mrs. Robertson joined the K12 team in 2014. She earned her BA in public relations from University of Texas at Arlington and her teaching certificate in 2007. She holds certificates in early childhood education–8th grade as well as ESL. Since starting with K12, she has taught 7th grade writing, 7th grade ELA, and was a 7th and 8th grade homeroom teacher before moving to elementary this year. Mrs. Robertson has enjoyed being a mentor as well as an ACTC during testing season.


Jessica Rodriguez | 7th Grade Teacher

Ms. Rodriquez joined the K12 team in 2018. She brings more than five years of experience as an elementary school and junior high teacher in both Utah and Texas. She earned a BS in education from Brigham Young University.


Kate Rowley | 4th Grade English Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher

Ms. Rowley joined the K12 team in 2018. This is her fifth year as an educator with experience as a 3rd grade teacher, kindergarten teacher, gifted and talented curriculum specialist, and as a reading interventionist. Ms. Rowley earned her BS in education from West Texas A&M University and holds a certification an early childhood thru sixth grade ESL generalist.


Jami Slagle | 4th Grade Math and Science Teacher

Ms. Slagle joined the K12 team in 2018. She has taught both middle school and elementary math, as well as elementary resource-math. Ms. Slagle earned a BBA in accounting, as well as an MBA in finance prior to getting certified to teach. She is considered highly qualified in math, and holds certificates in general education EC–8, special education EC–12, and ESL.


Ashley Velasquez | 3rd–5th Grade Resource and Inclusion Teacher

Ms. Velasquez joined the K12 team in 2018. This is her first year teaching but has many years in church leadership and community service. She earned her BA in education from Texas State University. She holds certificates in special education, generalist EC–6, and ESL.


Kristin Williams | 5th Grade Teacher

Ms. Williams joined the K12 family in 2018. Before starting this new and exciting adventure in the virtual world of teaching, she taught all subjects in a brick-and-mortar school at the 2nd grade level. Ms. Williams earned a BS in education from Liberty University where she majored in education and minored in psychology. She holds a teaching certification for EC–6th grades, as well as a certification in special education for EC–12th grades. Prior to teaching, Ms. Williams has held various positions in office settings working in bookkeeping as well as dispatching and records maintenance with a police department.
