Meet Our Administrators
Catherine Groven, Head of School at Texas Virtual Academy Hallsville, holds a Master's degree in Education Administration and has over 15 years of experience as an educator in both the brick and mortar and virtual setting. She began her career as a middle and high school math teacher, then she moved into administration where she has served as an assistant principal and principal prior to her current role. Mrs. Groven likes the interaction with families and staff as well as the support she is able to give with the tools available in our virtual setting.
LaTasha Beasley, High School Principal Grades 11-12, joined the K12 team in 2017 and has served in several different roles, including teacher, department chair, and assistant principal. She has over 18 years of experience serving in education and human services. LaTasha earned her BA degree from DePaul University and her MS and ED.S degrees from Walden University. She believes building positive relationships is the key to student and teacher success. When she has spare time, she likes to read, travel, and spend time with her family. LaTasha is excited to be part of the TVAH team, and she looks forward to helping to create a learning environment that inspires and facilitates growth.
Joseph Ferguson, High School Principal Grade 10, is excited to join the TVAH K12 family. My college career started off at Baylor University where I got my Bachelor's degree, and started my Masters. Also while at Baylor, I played rugby for Baylor University, truly learning what teamwork, grit, and determination was truly like. While being a part of the rugby team, we served the community in various ways, mentoring kids being one of those. This is what drove me towards education and having the dedication and competitiveness to help kids be better individuals in society, as well as enjoy learning through fun, yet higher learning education. It was this love for education which has kept me in the field for over 15 years. I have spent 8 years as a teacher, 3 as an Assistant Principal, 1 as an Associate Principal, and 3 years as a Principal. It was also during these times that I gained my Masters and Doctoral Degree, as well as my Superintendent Certification. I am transferring from within K12 as a State Compensatory Coordinator for TVAH to the Principal for 10th grade for TVAH. I enjoy hanging out with my boys, joining in CrossFit workouts with my Misfit family, being with family, and doing educational research. I look forward to seeing the success our students, teachers, and staff will have starting this year. I know that our current leadership and the plans being set forth, we are going to be a great success, and most of all create success for all students.
Yvonne Ceynow, High School Principal Grade 9, is a graduate of the University of Texas at Brownsville with a BA in English and an MA in Educational Leadership. She brings over 10 years of experience in the field of education including teaching ELA and ESL, writing ELA curriculum, and developing campus/district leaders across the state. Mrs. Ceynow joined the K12 team in 2017 as an Academic Administrator in Las Vegas, Nevada and is proud to be part of a team that is paving the way for virtual education.
Elizabeth Nelson, Middle School Principal Grades 7-8, has 12 years of experience in education, including teaching math and economics, writing math curriculum, helping at-risk students achieve success, and focusing on a data-driven culture. She joined the K12 team in 2014 as a math teacher at Arizona Virtual Academy, and transitioned to middle school lead teacher before joining Texas Online Preparatory School as the Middle School and High School Principal in 2017. Last year, she left Texas Online Preparatory School to launch Texas eSchool Prep as the Head of School. She earned a BA in Mathematics and a BS in Secondary Education from Indiana University. Additionally, she holds an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Ball State University and principal certification in both Texas and Arizona. Mrs. Nelson and her family, including four out of eight children, 2 dogs, 15 dwarf goats, 2 peacocks, various chickens, and three geckos, enjoy the country life in the Texas Hill Country.
Kyla Pickrell, Elementary School Principal Grades 3-6, has been with K12 for six years and enjoys working in a cutting-edge environment that allows students to be outside the box. While in college, she mastered in Business but soon realized her passion for education. She has been a teacher, a lead, and a lead captain in her six years at K12 which has allowed her to work with multiple teams. She looks forward to working with our awesome team to make this the best school year!
Daphne Troxell, Principal of Guidance and Advising, has been with K12 for nine years and loves being in an environment where students and teachers can work together to grow. While in college she majored in Secondary Education with a Math focus. During her nine years with K12, she has been in various roles including a K-8 teacher, MS teacher, lead teacher, instructional coach, and principal. She is over the top excited about TVAH and all the grand plans in store for this year.
Kendra Brown, Assistant High School Principal Grades 11-12, began her career in secondary education in 2007 as a high school English teacher in the Houston area. Throughout her career, she has served in a variety of leadership roles: Department Lead, Testing Coordinator, and Instructional Specialist. She has also contributed to developing curriculum projects and leading professional development sessions. Kendra joined K12 TVAH in March of 2019 as an English teacher before transitioning into administration as a Department Lead and Assistant Principal. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station where she earned both a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. She holds certifications in School Administration for grades K-12, Secondary ELA, and Secondary ESL.
LB Siebenmann, Assistant High School Principal Grades 11-12, has 18 years teaching experience that spans through all public K-12 grades. She began her professional career teaching and coaching middle school at Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD in Saginaw, Texas. From middle school she moved to Coppell High School, in Coppell, Texas, where she taught Foundations of Personal Fitness, Individual and Team Sports, as well as Health. Her competitive spirit and love for mentoring was demonstrated in coaching high school basketball and track. LB continued her experience teaching elementary PE for 14 years in Lewisville ISD, Lewisville, TX. Most recently, LB taught at Texas eSchool Prep. These positions provided diverse experience and through both teaching and coaching, LB gained a love for collaborative leadership. LB also served on committees for the Lewisville school district. She helped develop the districts first Physical Education curriculum and served on the district-wide School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC). Mrs. Siebenmann received her B.S.E from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She was a collegiate athlete, homecoming queen (2000), and served as the president of Student Health Organization and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She received her Masters in Educational Leadership from Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas. LB is married to Philip Siebenmann and has five children and one grandchild. She enjoys staying physically active, playing co-ed soccer and repurposing “treasures” or some might say other’s trash.
Miranda Frink, Assistant High School Principal Grade 10, is a Texas Tech alumni with both a bachelors and masters from there and currently working toward my doctorate. I started my career in education almost ten years ago as a middle school ELA teacher. I have since taught 6-8 ELA and 6-7 social studies. I have spent six years at K12 and am excited to begin my 7th in the 20-21 school year! I have a six year old little girl who keeps me very busy and on my toes. When I’m not working or parenting I am running or traveling!
Erica Kouros, Assistant High School Principal Grade 10, has served students and teachers for 15 years This includes teaching Middle School ELA and CTE courses in Business and Marketing. Mrs. Kouros earned a BBA in Marketing from the University of Houston and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. After earning her Masters in Education in 2013, she transitioned into leadership including campus based leadership, instructional leadership, technology implementation and curriculum writer for CTE and mentor teaching. Erica is always focused on student centered instruction and prides herself on developing strong relationships with students and their families She joined TOPS in December of 2018 as a Business and Marketing teacher and transitioned into the academic leadership role in 2019 with K12. . Before teaching, Erica worked in industry where she served in multiple leadership positions in the field of Marketing, which allows her to show students the real-world connection between education and industry. Through these diverse experiences she passionately supports students in their post secondary goals. Her focus and passion are working in partnership with teachers, students and families to provide authentic learning experiences. Erica, her husband and four daughters live in West Houston, where she enjoys spending time with her family, watching her daughter compete in martial arts, reading and supporting her local community.
Jillian Conte, Assistant High School Principal Grade 9, is originally from Ohio and I received my B.A. in Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio. I Received my M.A. in Mathematics Education from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. I taught High School Math, Physics, and coached girls tennis in Harmony, Florida and worked as a Math and Physics teacher at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. After traveling around the great plains with my husband’s job in wind power, we settled in Amarillo, Texas. I taught 8th grade math, Algebra 1, and 6th grade dance for 4.5 years in Amarillo before transitioning to working for K12 Texas. I taught Biology and 7th grade math at TOPS and then spent a year as curriculum coordinator for all of math and science for K12 Texas Shared Services. I am thrilled to be continuing my journey with TVAH as AP of Math and Science for the 9th grade campus.
Anna Westbrook, Assistant High School Principal Grade 9, is entering her 8th year in education and her 4th year at K12. She has served as a 9th grade and 11th grade English Teacher and the ELA Department Chair for the last three years in the virtual environment. Prior to coming to K12, she was a middle school and high school English Teacher and Grade Level Chair at a brick and mortar school in the Houston area, after transitioning to education after many years of working as a competitive swim coach and swim school director. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art and Graphic Design from California State University, Fresno, and has a Master of Science in Recreation and Sports Administration from Western Kentucky University. She is currently pursuing a second Master’s Degree with Southern New Hampshire University specializing in Online Education.
Karin Webb, Assistant High School Principal, received both her bachelors and master's degrees from the University of North Texas in Denton. She began her career in 1998 as a high school English and computer animation teacher. In 2012, Karin transitioned into the world of virtual education when she joined the K12 family. While are K12 she has taught several different courses including Public speaking and English 4. Karin is excited to be working with all the amazing TVAH families and staff.
Misty Watt, Assistant High School Principal for Counseling, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics for West Texas A&M University and taught high school Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 for 4 years. During the time of teaching, I went back to West Texas A&M to work on my Master of Education in Counseling. I was the high school counselor for Roosevelt High School for two years before we moved back to Amarillo. I started working for K12 in July 2015 as a placement counselor and then was moved to high school counselor in September 2015 at TXVA. I have been the counseling lead for TVAH for the last two years.
Tracy Cobb, Assistant Middle School Principal, received my B.A. in Spanish from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL and then went on to earn my M.Ed. in Teaching and Learning from DePaul University in Chicago. I have also earned a graduate certificate in Instructional Design from the University of Wisconsin-Stout as well as my Principal Certification from Lamar University. I was in brick and mortar classrooms for 10 years teaching a variety of subjects at the middle and high school levels before moving into district administration where I served as a member of the Curriculum and Instruction Literacy and Professional Learning teams. I began my journey with K12 last school year working as a Reading Interventionist for grades 5-8.
Lana Jackson-Brown, Assistant Middle School Principal, has been in education for over nine years. She taught 3rd grade ELA and Social Studies at a public charter school in the Rio Grande Valley before joining K12 in 2014, where she has taught 5-8th ELA. Most recently, she stepped into the role of the middle school ELA lead for the past two years. She is excited to step into the new role of assistant principal at TVAH Middle School. She received her bachelor’s in Early Childhood Multicultural Education with a minor in business management from the University of New Mexico and received her master’s in Social Entrepreneurship from Fort Hays State University. Her educational passions include writing across the curriculum, teacher training, and culturally responsive teaching.
Jayne Iley, Assistant Middle School Principal, has 33 years’ experience in the field of education including positions ranging from a classroom teacher to principal. She joined K12/Fuel Education as an English teacher in 2009, transitioned to a State Lead in 2015, moved to a Teacher Supervisor in 2018, and served as the academic administrator/principal for Texas eSchool Prep for the 2019-20 school year. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Texas State University. Additionally, she holds a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Walden University and a Texas Principal’s Certification. Jayne and her husband live in South Central Texas. They have two daughters, two wonderful sons-in-law, and 3 amazing grandchildren.
Jessica Miller, Assistant Middle School Principal, has been working in education for 8 years spending the last 2 years with K12. Before joining K12, Jessica worked in her local public schools teaching upper elementary ELA or Art. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Sam Houston State University and recently completed her master’s in School Counseling from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Jessica has loved working in the arts and doing counseling with the kids since starting at K12 and cannot wait to continue watching our students grow not only in their education but also socially and emotionally.
Rosalyn Petry, Assistant Elementary School Principal, has completed 7 years with K12 where she has served in various roles as an elementary and middle school teacher, as well as lead teacher. Prior to her career with K12, Rosalyn taught 4th grade bilingual students in a local brick and mortar public school for 7 years. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Spanish, then completed her Almaster’s in Christian Education. Rosalyn is passionate about helping teachers grow their students and looks forward to another amazing year at TVAH!
Chelsea Puchstein, Assistant Resource Principal, is so excited to continue to serve as a TVAH Elementary AP for the 2020-2021 school year! I graduated with my B.S. is Psychology from the University of Houston and immediately worked on obtaining my teaching certification through Region IV’s ACP. Prior to coming to K12, I was a high school resource science teacher in the brick and mortar and LOVED working with my students. I decided to stop working for a year when I had my first kiddo and then realized I NEEDED to get back in the classroom. I started with K12 in August of 2013 and have never looked back. I was the PE/Health teacher at the middle school level for 4 years. After being the electives POC during that last year, I shifted into a lead position in August of 2018 over the middle school science department and electives. In October of 2019, I received the opportunity to join the elementary team as the assistant principal. Additionally, I have been working towards my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership over this past year and will graduate on August 8, 2020. I absolutely love my job and cherish each and every person I get to work with!
